Harvest Time at Perelada

It’s September, which means European harvest time and we have harvest news from the Estates at Perelada.

Perelada Cavas -  ELISABETH FIGUERAS oversees her first harvest with Perelada. A harvest which we have been told will be similar to last year’s in terms of qualilty and quantity. It has been a year of mild temperatures and rainfall well distributed over the season which has allowed the grapes to ripen smoothly.

Perelada - DELFI SANAHUJA, Perelada & Chivite’s Director of Oenology, is going into a harvest where we are expecting a production of 250,000 kg grapes from the over 90 hectares of our own vineyards from which we source the grapes that go into the Perelada Estate Wines (Espolla, Malaveîna, Garbet and La Garriga).

La Melonera - ANA DE CASTRO will harvest 10.5 hectares of our own vineyards and 4.5 hectares of vineyards under our control with an approximate production of 60,000 kg. Here the main varieties are Tintilla de Rota, Garnacha, Blasco and Melonera.   In the Ronda winery they started picking in the last week of August and the harvest will finish in the first week of November with the latest-ripening variety, the Melonera.

Casa Gran del Siurana - ANNA GALLISÀ MESTRE and her team will harvest the vineyards in the Priorat. Of a total of 47 hectares, 19 are our own vineyards and 28 hectares are under our control. In this campaign they calculate they will bring in around 215,000 kg of mainly Garnatxa and Carinyena grapes. They started the harvest on 3 September and are expecting to finish it on 10 October.
